The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre in Gda?sk was established in 1992. Our activities focus on nearly all fields of arts. We organize interdiscipilinary projects such as scientific and literary seminars, conferences, debates, contemporary art exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, audiovisual presentations, festivals and concerts of classical, jazz, rock and folk music. The BSCC has also published a number of its own books. Most of our events include international co-operation. A great number of our projects is supported by Nordic and Baltic ministries and embassies, the European Union, Polish state funding and commercial sponsors. We also co-operate with the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Ars Baltica Organizing Comittee. We keep regular and lively contact with many cultural institutions and "policy makers" in all countries situated around the Baltic Sea as well as with individual artists and researchers who are interested in creating new quality for the cultural exchange in our region. BSCC employs about 30 people and is subsidized by the Regional Government (Office of the Marshall of the Pomorskie Voivodship). The Center's seat is the 16th century Old Town Hall in Gda?sk. The Centre administrates also the St. John's International Cultural Centre (Gothic church in Gda?sk Old Town).
