The National Gallery came into existence in 1942 by merging major collections of the Patriots´ Art Gallery (founded in 1796) and the Gallery of Modern Art (founded in 1902). Today it holds one of the finest collections in Central Europe dedicated to the national cultural heritage. The National Gallery offers quided tours, lectures and programs in the permanent and temporary expositions. The theme and the date of the visit have to be reserved 14 days in advance. Guided tours are available in Czech, English, German, and French.
